Warriors Rout Saints to Advance to WHAC Championship

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 1-seeded Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team defeated No. 4-ranked Siena Heights University, 16-7, on Thursday evening in the semifinals of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament at Warrior Athletic Field.

The Warriors, seeking a repeat trip to the WHAC Championship game, found themselves down just seconds into the contest on a rainy and soggy evening, but came back with three goals in a seven-minute stretch to take a 3-1 lead. Jennifer Banks took over the last two minutes of the opening half as she scored three times to give Tech a 7-3 lead at the break.

Banks made it four straight goals at the 27:54 mark while Jordyn Brooks scored three straight goals in a three-minute stretch to help extend the lead to 11-3. The Saints found some offense in the middle part of the half to cut the deficit to 12-7 with four straight goals, but Abbey Wilson started a 4-0 run for the hosts to end the game as they won 16-7 and advanced to the conference championship for the third time in the last five seasons.

Bank finished the game with seven goals and four ground balls while McKenna Mesclier and Halli Reinhard each had two. Unitie Jarvis had nine ground balls while Mesclier and Bailey Childs combined for 13 draws. Sydney Davis made 11 saves in the cage for Tech.

Tech (13-2) now welcomes No. 2-seeded Lawrence Tech to the Summit City on Saturday for a rematch of last year's championship match. Opening draw is set for 1 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
