GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team fell to No. 6-ranked Aquinas College, 14-8, Friday morning in the semifinals of the 2019 NAIA National Invitational at the AQ Athletic Field.
The Saints came out with two goals in the first five minutes of the game to gain control early, but the Warriors scored twice in the final four minutes of the period to make it a one-goal game while
Joe Solin tied it up a 3-3 with 12:41 to play in the second. After trading goals, Aquinas would go on a 4-0 run to end the half and take an 8-4 lead into the intermission.
Another goal from the Saints just four minutes into the third game gave them a five-goal lead, but Tech converted a pair of man-advantage opportunities in the last four minutes of the period to make it a 9-7 game heading into the final quarter of play. The Saints would retake control of the contest though as they went on a 4-0 run, including four goals in the final six minutes of the game, to take down the Warriors and come away with the 14-8 win.
Solin and
Andrew Ryan each scored twice for the Warriors while
Jordan Reyes picked up seven ground balls.
Chandler Peterson dished out two assists while
Evan Schuster made seven saves in the cage.
Tech finishes the season 16-3.
