FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 23-ranked Indiana Tech baseball team advanced to the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) Tournament Championship Series for the second straight season as they defeated the University of Northwestern Ohio, 5-1, in pod one play Saturday afternoon at Warrior Field.
The Warriors scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first off a wild pitch and went up 2-1 in the fourth thanks to an RBI ground out from
Javier Castaneda. That would prove to be plenty of offense for starter
Seth Sorensen, who tossed a complete game three-hitter, allowing just one run while striking out 13 batters on 115 pitches.
Glen McClain added an insurance run with a RBI double to left while
Jake DeFries followed that up with a two-run homer to right center to make it a 5-1 game and put the Racers out of the game.
Tech (36-15-1) advances to the WHAC Championship Series will they face off with second-seeded Madonna University in a rematch of the 2018 Championship Series. Game one of the best-of-three series will take place Monday, May 6 at 6 p.m. from Warrior Field. Game two will be at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, May 7, while the if-necessary game will follow if needed.
