ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The Indiana Tech men's basketball team defeated Concordia University, 85-75, to win its third straight game, and eighth of its last nine, Saturday afternoon in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action inside Concordia Field House.
Josh Kline led all players with 22 points, seven rebounds and four assists while
Max Huber added 20 points, six rebounds and two steals.
Dilyn Good chipped in 14 points and five rebounds while
Mitch Morken notched his fourth double-double of the season with 10 points and a career-high 14 rebounds along with five assists.
The Warriors started the game on a 13-0 run to gain control of the action early and forcing the Cardinals to call a timeout with 15:40 left on the clock in the first half. The Cardinals did not break onto the scoreboard until the 13:54 mark of the half, but they would not be able to get the deficit to single digits until late in the half Tech held the hosts out of double digits until the 9:30 mark, but Good responded with a triple to spark a 9-0 run that gave the visitors a 31-11 lead at the 6:33 mark. Concordia got into a groove offensively with an 18-4 run that brought them within six points at 35-29 with 2:41 to play in the half, but the Orange and Black were able to maintain a multiple possession lead at the half as they entered the locker room leading 40-33.
Concordia continued to push the envelope in the second half as they cut the lead down to 45-40 three minutes into the period, but a 10-3 run from the visitors pushed their advantage back up to 55-43 at the 11:43 mark. Every time the Cardinals would make a run, the Warriors would answer right back and make sure the lead never dipped down to a single possession game. Tech led 76-63 with 3:05 remaining on the clock and were never threatened the rest of the contest thanks to a 6-2 run that pushed the lead to 14 points before ending the game with an 85-75 result.
Tech (11-8, 7-2 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, January 15 as they host the University of Michigan-Dearborn from Kline Court. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
