Warriors Ground Cardinals in Road Win

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – The No. 11-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team won its third game in a row, and sixth of its last seven games, Saturday afternoon as they defeated Concordia University, 77-55, at Concordia Field House.

DeAnn Kauffman had a game-high 23 points and eight rebounds while Erika Foy notched a career-high 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks off the bench. Kyra Whitaker added 13 points and three steals while Emma Wolfe had 12 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

The Cardinals got ahead early as they led 8-5 with 6:25 to play in the first quarter, but the Warriors responded with an 9-0 run to take a 14-8 lead with 2:59 to go in the period. Tech built its lead up to 19-13 at the end of the quarter.

Concordia cut the deficit down to three points early in the second quarter, but a triple from Wolfe sparked a 10-4 run for the visitors that extended the advantage to 33-24 with 2:42 remaining in the first half. The Orange and Black entered the locker room leading 37-28 thanks to a strong defensive effort as they held CUAA to just 11-38 shooting in the first 20 minutes of action.

A 6-0 run for the Warriors pushed their lead up to 43-30 to open the second half, but the Cardinals would not go down lightly as they cut the deficit back down to seven points by the halfway point of the period. Tech grew their lead back into double digits though thanks to an 8-2 run and two baskets from Foy in the final 50 seconds of the quarter.

The Warriors took control of the game in the final 10 minutes of the game as they grew their lead to 25 points and never let the lead get under 10 points as they outscored the Cardinals 20-9 in the final 10 minutes of regulation. A 14-0 run for Tech and a six-minute scoring drought from the Cardinals gave the Orange and Black the momentum and lead they needed to come away with the 77-55 win.

Tech (14-4, 8-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday, January 15 as they return to the Kline Court to host the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
