Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Warriors Suffer Loss to Third-Ranked Gray Wolves

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team fell to No. 3-ranked Lourdes University in straight sets (25-20, 25-17, 25-17) Saturday evening in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play inside the Schaefer Center.

Cameron Ternent had a team-high seven kills with two blocks while Daynte Stewart had five kills, five blocks and three digs. Chandler Davis dished out 17 assists while Joey Hermes had nine digs.

After exchanging points over the first few points on the match, the Gray Wolves took advantage of three straight Tech errors to go up 11-7 and force a timeout call by the hosts. The Warriors battled back though, winning four out of six serves to knot the set up at 14 before going ahead 16-15. Lourdes responded strongly though, going on a 6-0 run to gain control of the set and come away with the 25-20 win to take the opening set.

The second set began with a 10-5 run from the visitors while Lourdes, the defending conference and conference tournament champions, used a 5-0 run to extend their advantage to 18-11 and force Tech to call a timeout. The Gray Wolves continued their domination in the set and cruised to the 25-17 victory to go up 2-0 in the match.

The visitors continued to hold serve in the third set as they raced out to a 7-2 lead and forced another early timeout from the Orange and Black. After extending their lead to 10-3, the Warriors would come racing back with a 6-2 spurt to make it a 12-9 game. That would be as close as the hosts would get though, as Lourdes came back with a 7-3 run to regain control and completed the sweep with a 25-17 win.

Tech (3-5 0-2 WHAC) returns to action on Friday, January 31 as they host NCAA Division III foe St. Norbert College. First serve is set for 8 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
