Warriors Topple Lancers with Big Nights from Hill, Foy

WINONA LAKE, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team had a superlative night Thursday as they defeated Grace College, 81-54, to extend its winning streak to 28 games while seeing a pair of outstanding individual performances inside the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center.

Senior Alexis Hill led all players with a career-high 35 points, the sixth-best effort from any player in the NAIA this year, on 13-16 shooting while going 9-11 from the free throw line and adding 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season. Erika Foy filled out up the stat sheet with 10 points, 10 rebounds and a career-high 13 assists for the rare triple-double, only the second in the NAIA this season. Kyra Whitaker chipped in 15 points while Eileen Salisbury added nine points and two assists.

The Warriors started off the game with a bucket from Foy and two from Hill to go up 6-3 from the opening tip. A triple from Taya Andrews broke a 6-6 tie at the 6:21 mark and sparked an 11-4 run to make it 17-10 Tech. The Orange and Black continued to push their lead in the second quarter thanks to a 24-11 advantage on the scoreboard in the period, with Salisbury going 3-4 from downtown to lead the way. A 16-5 spurt from the Warriors over the last five minutes of the half gave the visitors a 43-25 lead at the break.

The Lancers showed a bit of life in the third quarter as they outscored the Warriors 15-13, but the visitors got their groove back in the fourth with a 25-14 scoring advantage to put the game out of reach and keep the longest streak in program history alive. Hill would score 11 of her 35 points in the third quarter and added 10 more in the fourth to record the first 30-point game since Nov. 12, 2019 when DeAnn Kauffman had 32 points against Grace.

Tech (9-0) returns to action on Tuesday, Dec. 15 as they make the short trek across downtown Fort Wayne to take on the University of Saint Francis. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. from the Hutzell Athletic Center.
