Warriors Run Win Streak to 12 with Rout of Blue Devils

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The No. 12-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team recorded its 12th straight win Wednesday evening with a 79-50 win over Lawrence Technological University inside Don Ridler Field House in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) action.

Erika Foy had a career-high 20 points on 8-10 shooting in just 17 minutes of action while Kyra Whitaker had 18 points. Rachel Bell added a career-high 17 points, six rebounds and three assists while DeAnn Kauffman had seven points and eight rebounds.

Foy made her presence felt in the first quarter as she poured in 11 points in just five minutes of play, going 4-4 from the field and making her one shot from behind the arc. She scored nine straight points for the Warriors over a 1:13 stretch in the final three minutes of the quarter as she dueled with LTU's Kendall Fisher, who scored eight of her 18 points on three straight possessions. Tech was able to keep the Blue Devils off the scoreboard for most of the final two minutes of the period though, and a triple from Kauffman in the waning seconds gave the visitors a 23-18 lead at the first quarter break.

The Warriors pushed their lead up to 10 points at 31-21 with 5:40 to go in the second quarter following a 6-0 run and a 6:20 scoring drought from the hosts. Six straight points from Fisher though brought Lawrence Tech within four points and a triple from Teryn Kline cut the deficit down to 34-32 late in the half, but the Orange and Black were able to hold firm and took a 36-32 lead into the locker room.

The Blue Devils cut the deficit back down to one possession twice in the opening minutes of the second half, but the Warriors went on an 11-2 run to make it a 52-40 game with 1:36 left to go in the third quarter to give Tech some breathing room. A trio of old-fashioned three-point plays from Bell, Foy and Whitaker, along with three free throws from Whitaker, sparked a 12-2 run for the visitors that extended their advantage to 66-44 with eight minutes left in the game and sealed the victory. Tech never let the lead dipped under 20 points the rest of the game while increasing their lead to as many as 30 points in the 79-50 win.

Tech (23-4, 16-1 WHAC) returns to action on Saturday as they host Concordia University for their first home game of the month. Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
