LAKEWOOD, Ohio – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team fell to NCAA Division II foe Tiffin University, 4-3, in their spring opener Saturday afternoon inside the Lakewood Racquet Club.
Tech started off strong with winning the doubles point thanks to victories from the second flight of
Tiago Neves and
Brunno Storani (6-4) and the third flight of
Raybin Chan and
Jafer Infante (6-3). The Dragons came out with three straight wins to begin singles play though as they won at first, second and fourth flight to kick things off.
Alvaro Garrido gutted out a 7-6, 3-6, 7-6 win victory at third flight while Infante won in straight sets (6-2, 6-2) at the number six position, but it would not be enough to overcome the deficit as Tiffin won the match at number fifth to prevail 4-3.
Tech (6-2) returns to action Sunday as they travel to NCAA Division I opponent Butler University. First serve is set for 6 p.m. from the Butler Bubble.
