Warriors Bounce Back to Knock Off Braves

COLUMBIA, Mo. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team defeated Ottawa University, 14-9, Sunday afternoon at R. Marvin Owens Field for its first win of the season.
 
Nate Langille and Joe Solin both recorded a hat trick with the former adding an assist for a team-best four points. Justin Hindman dished out three assists while Blaine Flanigan had five ground balls. Andrew Neller went 17-26 in the face-off zone while Evan Schuster made 10 saves in the win.
 
The first quarter was a showcase of offense as the two teams combined for 11 goals, with Solin scoring all three of his goals in the first 10 minutes of the game while Langille had two of his three goals in the first. Solin put Tech up 2-1 with a man-up goal at the 8:59 mark while Langille made it a 3-1 game 24 seconds later. Ottawa would score at the 8:20 mark while Sam Anderson found the back of the net with five seconds remaining in the eight-minute mark to cap the four-goal minute and put the Warriors up 4-2.
 
Langille, Solin and Ian Tyburski tacked on goals to put the Orange and Black up 7-2 with 3:05 to go in the first, but the Braves scored twice in the final 66 seconds of the period to cut the deficit down to 7-4. Tech controlled the action during the second quarter as they outscored Ottawa 3-0 to take a 10-4 lead into the locker room.
 
The third quarter was all Ottawa as they outscored the Warriors 4-0, scoring twice on the man-advantage opportunity, to cut the deficit down to 10-8 with 15 minutes left in the game. Tech scored four unanswered goals in the fourth though, with three coming in a 75-second stretch, to put the Braves away with the 14-9 win.
 
Tech (1-1) returns to action on Tuesday, March 10 as they host No. 7-ranked Benedictine College in their home opener. Opening face-off is set for 3 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
