FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team defeated No. 7-ranked Benedictine College, 11-7, Tuesday afternoon in their home opener at Warrior Athletic Field.
Nate Langille and
Louis Czech both recorded hat tricks while
Andrew Ryan netted a goal and two assists.
Andrew Neller went 13-21 in the face-off zone with five ground balls.
Jordan Reyes caused four turnovers while
Sam Anderson had three.
Evan Schuster made nine saves in the win.
The Ravens took the first lead of the game at 12:17, but Langille tied the game up at 1-1 two minutes later on the extra-man opportunity.
Jaxon Koehl put Tech up 2-1 with under three minutes left in the first, but Benedictine knotted the contest up right before the final horn.
Czech got the Warriors back on top two minutes into the second, but the visitors responded with two straight goals to take a 4-3 lead.
Joey Provost and Czech answered quickly though to give the Orange and Black a 5-4 lead at the half.
A pair of quick-strike goals from Ryan and
Justin Hindman gave the Warriors a 7-4 lead with 13:01 left in the third quarter and entered the fourth leading 8-6. Tech's defense tightened up in the final 15 minutes of play by allowing just one goal while Samuel Bodey, Czech and Langille all found the back of the cage to help the Warriors improve to 9-1 over their last 10 home games.
Tech (2-1) returns to action on Thursday, March 12 as they head to the Volunteer State for a matchup with Tennessee Wesleyan University. Opening face-off is set for 3 p.m. from the TWU Soccer/Lacrosse Field.
