TUSCON, Ariz. – The Indiana Tech softball team went 5-4 over Spring Break at the Tucson Invitational Games last week at Abraham Lincoln Regional Park.
After having their first two games rained out, Tech defeated Cardinal Stritch University, 5-4, on March 9 for its first win of the season in their opening game of the trip. The Warriors would also defeated Dakota Wesleyan University, 6-0, No. 14-ranked Olivet Nazarene University (5-1), Viterbro University (4-3) and Benedictine College (10-2, 6 innings) to end the trip, and their season, on a four-game winning streak. The Orange and Black fell to University of Jamestown (10-8), Dordt College (9-1, 5 innings), University of Saint Francis [Ill.] (5-3) and Doane University (11-4).
Kelsey Robinson had a stellar week, going 10-16 (.625) while scoring eight times and recording two doubles and a triple.
Ashley Alvey went 4-8 with a double and a triple while going 2-1 in the circle with 19 strikeouts in 20 innings.
Emily Martin hit .483 with five doubles, a triple and a home run while knocking in 10 runs, and
Nicolle Sierra went hard three times for 10 RBI.
Amanda Shonka also went 2-1 in the circle.
Tech finishes with a 5-7 record for the 2020 season.
