FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's volleyball team ended a five-match homestand Wednesday evening with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-13, 25-20) win over Olivet College in nonconference action inside the Schaefer Center.
Mason Milan led the way with a match-high 12 kills, four service aces and six digs while hitting .286.
Cameron Ternent had seven kills, five service aces, five digs and three blocks while
Daynte Stewart had seven kills.
Chandler Davis dished out 25 assists while
Joey Hermes had 10 digs.
The Comets got out to a 7-3 lead to start the first set over the Warriors, who hadn't played a match since February 25. Olivet grew their advantage to 11-6, but an 11-1 run from Tech, including an 8-0 spurt that featured three aces from Milan, gave the hosts a 21-16 lead. The visitors stormed back with a 4-0 run to cut the deficit to 22-21, but that would be the last point Olivet would score as Tech took the opening set.
The Warriors started off strong in the second with a 5-1 burst before growing their lead to 11-3, with Ternent serving up back-to-back aces to complete the run. A 6-0 run from the Orange and Black pushed the lead to 19-7 and eventually led to the 25-13 win to give the hosts a 2-0 lead.
The Comets gave Tech everything they had in the third to try and extend the game as they took a 10-9 lead following a furious back-and-forth effort between the two teams. The Warriors grabbed the momentum with a 5-0 run however to make it a 14-10 game. While Olivet was able to tie the set up at 15, they were unable to get back on top on the scoreboard while a 5-0 run from Tech made it a 23-17 game and they would complete the sweep with ease to tend the homestand.
Tech (9-12) returns to action on Thursday as they make the journey up to Olivet for a quick rematch. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Upton Center Gymnasium.
