CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – Women's volleyball struggled to gain momentum against Thomas More and fell 3-0 on the road.
Thomas More opened the match with the first four points of the first set only for Tech to respond with four points of their own to tie the set 4-4. After one point for the Saints the Warriors scored two to take a 6-5 lead. The set was tied twice until Thomas More scored three in a row to lead 9-7. Tech responded with three points of their own to take the lead once again 10-9. The set was tied seven more times before Thomas More rallied for four points to lead 21-18. They kept their lead despite the back and fourth action and won the first set 25-22.
The Warriors responded to the end of the first set and scored the first two of the second set only for the back-and-forth action to begin again. Tech gained some control by scoring four points to lead 10-7. Tech led by seven at one point before the Saint rallied for five points to get within two (18-16). The Warriors managed to keep the lead until Thomas More strung together four points not only to tie the set at 21, but then take a 23-21 lead. A string of errors by the Saints gives Tech a 24-23 lead before the trading of points began. The set was tied two times before Thomas More was able to get two points back-to-back to take the second set 28-26.
The third set started how the second ended with the two teams trading points with no one stringing together more than two until the Saints went on a 7-0 run to lead 13-4.
Amaya Anderson stopped the scoring spree for the Saints with a kill to kickstart the Warriors for three points to make the score (13-7). Thomas More had a 5-0 run to lead 19-8 and eventually won the set 25-11 and the match 3-0.
Havilyn Cummings ended the match with seven kills while
Amaya Anderson finished with five.
Genna Karbowski led the Warriors with ten assists and earned the double-double with 10 digs.
Jacey Blust tallied 23 digs to lead Tech.
The Warriors are back on the court Friday, February 5
th when they host Cornerstone for their first WHAC match of the spring.
