LYNCHBURG, Va. - The Indiana Tech women's hockey team struggled to find the back of the net against one of the top programs in the country this past weekend, dropping two games to the Liberty Flames, 5-0 and 3-1.
In the first contest on Friday night, the Warriors were straight up outplayed. As the Flames would earn less penalty minutes (2-4) and shoot more shots on goal (56-19), which would lead to the final score being 5-0.
In the second contest, there were more bright spots, as the Warriors would hold the lead early on after a
Sterling Nesbitt goal off of the assist from
Arika Trentor. Tech also improved the shots on goal margin with Liberty, this time they were out-shot 31-18, leading to the Warriors being defeated, 3-1.
It was a tough weekend for the first year program, but head coach
Scott Hicks will look to have his girls back on track this weekend as they travel to Bensenville, Illinois to take on the Roosevelt Lakers (0-3).
