HOWELL, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team defeated Cleary University 8-0 Wednesday afternoon at Lake Trust Stadium. The eight goals were a season-high for the team and the most in a game since September 24, 2013 when they Warriors scored nine goals in a 9-3 victory against Cleary.
Lily Rothert notched her team-leading ninth goal of the season in the 18
th minute to put the Warriors on the board and assisted the team's second goal in the 30
th minute as
Olivia Sherman found the back of the net.
Molly Ames and
Kate Wallace scored in the 33
rd and 35
th minute to put Tech up 4-0 while
Bailey Elliott scored in the 43
rd minute. The Warriors took a 6-0 lead into the locker room at half as the Cougars recorded an own goal with 53 seconds until the break.
Jordan Brown-Mundey made it 7-0 in the 49
th minute while
Danielle Dunn capped the scoring in the 72
nd minute as Tech outshot Cleary 34-3 and held a 23-0 advantage in shots on goal.
Michaela Bitle picked up the win in goal to earn her eighth win of the season and second shutout.
The Warriors are currently in sixth place in the conference and can move up into a tie for fifth place with Lourdes depending on the outcome of their matchup with Cornerstone Saturday.
Tech (9-8-0, 5-5-0 WHAC) concludes the regular season Saturday as they travel to Lawrence Tech. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. from Blue Devils Stadium.
