Warriors Win Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament For Third Straight Year

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to 11 games over the weekend as they won the Liz Lykowski Memorial Tournament for the third straight year (the tournament was not hosted in 2020) with a perfect 4-0 record. The Warriors defeated Huntington University (3-1) and Judson University (3-2) Friday while taking care of business Saturday with wins against Goshen College (3-1) and Trinity Christian College (3-0).
 
Madelyn Omo was named the MVP of the tournament with 46 kills, 10 blocks and a .452 hitting percentage over the four matches while Andrea Schriver was also named to the All-Tournament Team with 152 assists, 42 digs and six service aces. Noelle VanOort had 46 digs, 43 kills and 15 service aces over the weekend while Jacey Blust had 89 digs.
 
After taking the opening set over Huntington 25-15, the Warriors dropped the second set 26-24, but rebounded to take the next two sets 25-16 and 25-23. In the nightcap or "Liz" game, the Warriors took the first two sets 25-16 and 25-19, only to see the Eagles come back and take the next two sets 25-17 and 30-28. Tech came out on top in the fifth set with a 15-12 victory to end the first night 2-0.
 
Playing the 10 a.m. match Saturday, the Orange and Black dropped the opening set to Goshen, 25-19, before waking up and taking the next three sets, 25-21, 25-13, 25-14. In the final match of the day against Trinity Christian, Tech came out on top in a pair of tightly contested sets, 26-24 and 25-22, before dominating the final set 25-13 to clinch the tournament title.
 
Tech (17-8) returns to action Wednesday as they travel to Lourdes University to resume conference action. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Russell J. Ebeid Recreation Center.
