SYLVANIA, Ohio – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team fell to Lourdes University in four sets (25-22, 12-25, 15-25, 18-25) Wednesday evening inside the Russel J. Ebeid Recreation Center. The loss snapped the Warriors' 11 match win streak.
Emma Westra had 12 kills while
Andrea Schriver had 29 assists and 17 digs in the loss.
Jacey Blust recorded 22 digs while
Noelle VanOort had 14 digs and seven kills.
Tech started off the match on a 5-0 run, but the Gray Wolves battled back to go up 9-8 following a 5-1 run. The two teams went back and forth before a 5-0 spurt from the Warriors put them up 17-12. Lourdes came roaring back to cut the deficit to 22-21, but the visitors held on to take the opening set.
The hosts came out swinging in the second with a .400 hitting percentage while holding Tech to just a .057 attack percentage. After staying even through the first 12 serves, Lourdes went on an 8-2 run to take a 14-8 lead and never looked back. The Gray Wolves broke the Warriors with a 6-0 run to push the advantage to 22-10 as they evened the match up at 1-1.
Lourdes continued to carry the momentum in the third set with a 10-5 spurt to kick things off and force a timeout from the Warriors. Tech got within three points at multiple points but couldn't get any closer as the Gray Wolves took a 2-1 lead thanks to a 25-15 win.
The hosts didn't slow down in the fourth as the got out to a 9-4 lead, but the Warriors battled back to tie the set up at 9-9. Both teams had runs over the next few points with the Gray Wolves holding a slim 16-15 advantage. Lourdes went on a 6-0 spurt though to grow the lead to 22-15 and Tech couldn't recover as the Gray Wolves completed the comeback win.
Tech (17-9, 9-2 WHAC) returns to action Friday as they host Aquinas College. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.
