ADRIAN, Mich. – Women's volleyball sweeps Siena Heights 3-0 to advance to 7-2 in the WHAC.
The Saints led early 5-3 before the Warriors gained momentum and scored four straight points to take a 7-5 lead. After two points from the Saints, Tech scored four more to extend their lead to 11-7. With Indiana Tech leading 12-8, Siena Heights rallied for three to get within one (12-11). Tech responded with a 4-0 run to lead 16-11. Another 3-0 rally gave Tech a 19-12 lead before the Saint had two three-point runs to get back within two (20-18). The back-and-forth scoring began with the Warriors coming out victorious 25-23 in the first set.
In the second set Tech led 5-1 early only for the Saints to go on a 3-0 run and get within one (6-5). A four-point spurt by the Warriors advanced their lead to five (10-5). Later Tech had another 3-0 run to extend their lead to 17-10, two points from the Saints and then three more for the Warriors put the score at 20-12. Tech had a four-point rally to lead 24-15 and have set point. The Saints scored the next point before the Warriors finished the set and won 25-16 for a 2-0 lead in the match.
The Saints took an early 4-3 lead in the third set before the Warriors eventually tied it at 5-5. Tech then scored four more to lead 9-5. After Siena Heights scored one point, the Warriors went on a 6-0 run to lead 15-6. The Saints did not give up and had a three-point rally later on to get within six (16-10) of Tech. The Warriors slowed down the Saints' advances with a 4-0 run to lead by ten (20-10) only for Siena Heights to rally for four more points and put the score at 22-15 in favor of Tech. The Warriors finished out the set 25-18 to earn the 3-0 sweep of Siena Heights.
Madelyn Omo led the Warriors with nine kills and a .471 hitting percentage.
Taylor Paul and
Emma Westra recorded eight kills and two digs apiece.
Andrea Schriver led Tech with 16 assists and added five digs and two service aces while
Kelsey Schaldenbrand recorded 14 assists and seven digs.
Jacey Blust tallied 17 digs, two assists and one service ace while
Katrina Reynolds earned 10 digs and two assists in the match.
The Warriors are back in action on Friday, February 26
th when they head to Aquinas for an 8 p.m. start for more WHAC competition.
