FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Women's volleyball falls to Aquinas 3-0.
Aquinas jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the first set before the Warriors responded with three-straight to lead 3-2. There were two more lead changes before the Saints took control for four unanswered points to take a 10-9 lead. The set was tied two times until Aquinas earned a 14-11 lead. The Warriors fought back to get within one (16-15) but was unable to take the lead again and the Saints took the first set 25-21.
The second set started similarly to the first with Aquinas taking a 4-2 lead early. After trading points, the Warriors had a 4-0 run to take an 8-6 lead with a kill from
Taylor Paul. The set was then tied eight times until Aquinas had a 4-0 rally to take a 20-16 lead. A 5-1 stretch in favor of the Saints gave them the 25-18 second set victory.
Aquinas opened the third set with a 3-0 lead and led 4-2 before Tech rallied for four-straight points to take a 6-4 lead. The back-and-forth action began until the Saints had a 7-0 run to lead 17-13. The Warriors fought their way back into the game and got within two (24-22) before the Saints scored the final point and won the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.
Havilyn Cummings led the Warriors with eight kills with a .261 hitting percentage while
Emma Westra added seven kills and one dig.
Andrea Schriver led the team with 15 assists and recorded a double-double with 10 digs.
Jacey Blust led with 13 digs with
Katrina Reynolds adding ten digs and three assists.
The Warriors are back on the court Tuesday, March 2
nd when they travel to Madonna for a 7 p.m. first serve.
