Warriors End Regular Season With Win over Siena Heights

ADRIAN, Mich. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team ended the regular season Tuesday evening with a 55-37 win over Siena Heights University inside the Siena Heights Fieldhouse.

The Warriors end the regular season with a 23-2 record and an 11-1 mark in Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play to finish in second place, one game behind undefeated Rochester University. Tech opens up the WHAC Tournament Thursday at home against seventh-seeded Cornerstone University. Tip-off is set for 6 p.m. from the Schaefer Center.

Emma Tuominen had a team-high 13 points and 10 rebounds while Erika Foy had 11 points and eight rebounds. Eileen Salisbury had eight points and six rebounds.

Tech outscored the Saints 12-5 in the first quarter, and used a 7-3 run to take control of the momentum from the start. Siena Heights came out firing in the second quarter with a 7-2 run to cut the deficit to 14-12 at the 8:06 mark, but a triple from Kelsey Ivers started an 8-2 run for the Warriors as they took a 26-16 lead into the locker room.

The Warriors continued to push the lead in the second half with a stifling defensive effort as they allowed just 10 points on 3-11 shooting from the Saints while scoring 19 points on 8-15 shooting. A 7-0 run from the visitors made it a 33-18 game with 6:28 left in the third and forced the hosts to call a timeout. The Orange and Black did not let up though, growing their lead to nine 19 points at the end of the period with a 45-26 lead.

Siena Heights did make a late push as they cut the deficit to 47-33 with 5:50 left in the game, but could not take advantage of a five and half minute scoring drought by the Warriors and wouldn't get any closer than 14 points the rest of the way as Tech wrapped up the season sweep of the Saints.
