UPLAND, Ind. – Baseball traveled to Taylor today for nine-inning and seven-inning games but comes up short and drops the pair.
The Warriors were able to hold Taylor scoreless in the first two innings before the Trojans got runners in scoring position in the bottom of the third. Taylor capitalized and was able to get two runs across home plate to lead 2-0 after three innings. In the top of the eighth Tech had a runner on first and second with
Spenser McGhee at the plate.
McGhee singled through the whole at shortstop to score
Jacob Daftari from second and advance
Reese Olden to second. The Warriors weren't able to generate any more offense and fell 2-1 in the first game.
Daftari went 2-for-4 at the plate with the one run for Tech while
McGhee also went 2-for-4 in the box.
Mike Snyder was 1-for-4 in the batter's box.
Charles Dunavan took the loss on the mound with three innings pitched with seven strikeouts.
Jared Gallagher also pitched four innings with four strikeouts and
Martin Eckard pitched the final inning with one strikeout.
In the second game, Tech scored the first run of the game when
McGhee doubled to left center to score
Olden to give the Warriors a 1-0 lead after the top of the third. Taylor answered in the bottom of the third to take a 2-1 lead after three. The Trojans kept the momentum and scored three in the fifth and two in the sixth to win the seven-inning second game 8-1.
McGhee went 2-for-4 at the plate against with
Jacob Alvidrez going 1-for-1 in the box.
Tyler Stacy pitched 3.1 innings with two strikeouts.
Jared Maxfield pitched 1.1 innings with one strikeout while
Kris Massey pitched 0.2 innings with one strikeout and
Jacob Howe pitched the other 0.2 inning and recorded one strikeout.
The Warriors are back on the field tomorrow for another doubleheader at Taylor starting at 1 p.m.
