Warriors Season Comes to an End with Loss to Wildcats in NAIA Opening Round

CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – The No. 13-ranked Indiana Tech women's basketball team saw its season come to a close Saturday afternoon as they fell to No. 20-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University, 80-63, inside the Connor Convocation Center in the NAIA National Championship Opening Round, presented by Ballogy, in the Crestview Hills Bracket Championship Game.

How It Happened
  • The two regional rivals came out swinging in a rematch from January 2, in which the Wildcats snapped the Warriors' 30 game winning streak, and were all knotted up at 9-9 at the 6:52 mark of the first quarter. IWU got up by six at 15-9, but Tech battled back and trailed 23-21 at the end of the period.
  • The second quarter was a tough one for the Warriors offensively as they scored just nine points on 4-18 shooting, while the Wildcats put up 16 points 39-30 lead into the locker room. Tech scored on its opening possession of the quarter at the 9:26 mark, but wouldn't score again until the 5:59 mark, and didn't score in the last 2:49 of the half as well.
  • Tech's offensive woes continued into the third quarter as they were outscored 22-15 and went just 4-12 from the floor. An 11-2 run from IWU put them up 58-41 with 2:06 to play in the third while the Warriors trailed 61-45 at the end of the period.
  • The Wildcats grew the advantage to as many as 23 in the final quarter and never let the lead get under 15 points to advance to the NAIA National Championship final site in Sioux City, Iowa.

Inside the Box Score
  • Emma Tuominen had a team-best 17 points and went 9-10 from the free throw line, while Alexis Hill had 12 points and 10 rebounds for her seventh double-double of the season.
