Warriors Sweep Cougars in Return to WHAC Play

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Indiana Tech men's volleyball team returned to Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) play Tuesday evening with a 3-0 (25-19, 26-14, 25-20) win over Mount Vernon Nazarene University inside the Schaefer Center.

How It Happened
  • Tech raced out to an 8-3 lead in the first set and never looked back, growing the lead to 21-11. The Cougars made things interesting as they fought off four set points to put the pressure on, but Dante Siracusa got the set-winning kill to put the Warriors up 1-0.
  • The second set took a different tone thanks to 13 ties and three lead changes, with neither side taking more than a two-point lead. With the set tied up at 21-21, Tech won three of the next four points to get to set point, but the Cougars knotted the set up at 24 to put the pressure on as they tried to even the match up at 1-1. A kill from Sircasua and an error from MVNU though, put the Orange and Black up 2-0 with the 26-24 win.
  • The tight affair continued into the third set that featured 10 ties and took until the 35th point of the set to see either team have more than a three-point lead, with the hosts holding a 19-16 advantage. Tech went on a 3-1 run to go up 22-17 and then won three of the next six points to close the door on the Cougars and complete the sweep.
