FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Baseball defeated Saint Ambrose in their first game of a three-game series 4-2 yesterday to remain undefeated on Warrior Field.
Tech scored early in their first at bat in the bottom of the first inning.
Patterson walked to be the first Warrior on base before
Jayden Reed singled to put runners on first and second with no outs.
Mike Snyder then stepped up to the plate and hit a single to score
Patterson from second and earn the Warriors the 1-0 lead.
In the top of the third the Fighting Bees tied up the game 1-1. Tech did not answer until the bottom of the fourth with
Jacob Alvirdez walking to get on base before
Parker Bates came in to pinch run.
Jake Ritson put down a sacrifice bunt to move
Bates to second and into scoring position. After an out and an error, there were runners on first and second with
Patterson up to bat.
Patterson hit a single to score
Bates from second and give Tech back the lead 2-1.
In the top of the sixth, Saint Ambrose scored again to tie the game 2-2. Tech responded in the bottom of the seventh when
Reed singled and then advanced to second on a passed ball to put himself into scoring position.
Snyder hit a single to score
Reed and earn the Warriors the 3-2 lead. Tech scored again in the bottom of the eighth where an error and sacrifice bunt put
Alvidrez on second with one out.
Reese Olden hit a single before him and
Alvidrez advanced on a wild pitch for runners at second and third with one out. Another wild pitch scored
Alvidrez from third for Tech to lead 4-2 and eventually win the game.
Olden was 1-for-2 at the plate while
Snyder went 2-for-4 with two RBIs.
Reed went 2-for-5 with one run in the game while
Patterson was 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.
Spenser McGhee earned the win at the mound with five innings pitched and two strikeouts.
Tech is back in action today for the final two games against Saint Ambrose starting at 1 p.m.
