FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Men's ice hockey shuts out Cleary in the WHAC Semifinals 8-0 to advance to the finals.
The Warriors were a dominant presence on the ice from the start scoring just 1:24 into the game by
Joel Holmberg from
Adam Vannelli. At the 4:36 mark the Warriors struck again this time
Bear Ross finding the back of the net and
Brett Geoffroy recording the assist. Less than a minute later Tech scored again with
Matej Krasny scoring from
Cam Chabot. Holmberg ended the first period with a goal at 12:56 from
Axel Low and
Alex Arnold for Tech to lead 4-0 after the first 20 minutes of play.
Tech then opened the second period with a powerplay goal by
Zach Bennett from
Chabot and
Low at the 10:47 mark for the only goal of the second period.
Bennett opened the third period with his second goal of the night at the 6:56 while
Chabot tallied another assist.
Ross notched his second goal of the night on a powerplay at the 14:11 mark unassisted before
Bobby Frieson also scored on a powerplay from
Low for the Warriors to defeat Cleary 8-0 in the conference tournament semifinal game.
Ryan O'Toole earned the shutout in net with 16 saves while
Schultz was 16-for-22 in faceoffs.
Chabot was 13-for-19 in faceoffs and
Ross went 11-for-16.
Tech is back on their home ice tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the WHAC Championship against Aquinas.
