Warriors Falter in Second Half in Loss to Saints

ADRIAN, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's lacrosse team fell to Siena Heights University 20-13 Saturday afternoon in their Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) opener inside O'Laughlin Stadium.
 
How It Happened
  • Abby Barkdull put the Warriors up 1-0 55 seconds into the game, but the Saints got up 3-0 by the 24-minute mark of the first half.
  • Trailing 6-2 with 10:54 to play in the half, the Warriors scored four times in the final eight minutes of the period to cut the deficit to 7-6 at the break, with Abbey Wilson scoring with 46 seconds left on the clock to make it a one-goal game.
  • The Saints scored six times in the opening 10 minutes of the second half to extend their lead to 13-8 and then used a 3-0 run to make it a 16-10 lead with 13:16 to play.
  • Barkdull scored three times in the final seven minutes of the game, but could not pull Tech within striking distance as the Saints took the WHAC opener.
 
Inside the Box Score
  • Barkdull added four assists for a team-best nine points while Wilson had six draw controls and went 2-2 on free-position shots.
  • Kalisha Gilmore had two caused turnovers while Ellie Nelson had three ground balls.
  • Jordan Donally made 12 saves in the loss.
 
Tech (1-2, 0-1 WHAC) returns to action on Wednesday as they host Aquinas College. Opening draw is set for 6 p.m. from Warrior Athletic Field.
