FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Baseball sweeps Rochester in unconventional finish in second game.
In game one, Tech jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning when
Jacob Daftari singled to centerfield with two outs.
Yeshua Saint then walked up to the plate and hit a homerun over right centerfield for two runs and the Warriors to lead 2-0. In the bottom of the second, the Warriors scored four to extend their lead to 6-0.
In the third, with two outs,
Jayden Reed got on base with a single right before
Reese Oden hit a single to right field that
Reed took advantage of and scored. Later in the inning, the Warriors were walked around the bases for another run for an 8-0 lead after three innings. In the top of the fourth, Rochester had a two-run homer to get on the board and make the score 8-2.
Tech scored again in the bottom of the seventh with two runs coming from an error in the field and the third coming from a sacrifice fly by
Daftari that scored
Jake Ritson for the Warriors to lead 11-2. Rochester attempted a comeback in the top of the ninth, but the Warriors ended the run after two crossed home plate to earn the 11-4 win in the first game.
Saint earned the win on the mound pitching seven innings with five strikeouts while
Jared Gallagher ended the game, pitching the final two innings with one strikeout.
Daftari was 3-for-3 at the plate with one run and three RBIs while
Alex Vydick was 2-for-3.
Saint was also 2-for-5 in the box with three RBIs and one run.
In the second game the Warriors went on a scoring spree in the second inning after going down 1-0.
Spenser McGhee earned a walk and then with two outs and a runner on first,
Reed doubled through the left side to put runners on first and second with two outs. A wild pitch scored the run on third to tie the game 1-1.
Olden was hit by a pitch before
Trevor Patterson walked. A passed ball scored
Reed from third and advanced the other runners before Tech loaded the bases again with
Jake Ritson walking.
Daftari then singled to centerfield to score both
Olden and
Patterson. The Warriors then reloaded the bases and were walked around to score another run and take a 5-1 lead.
Two more runs crossed home for Tech in the bottom of the third before
Christian De Los Santos hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth to extend Tech's lead to 9-1.
De Los Santos did it again in the bottom of the fifth over the left field fence this time to put the Warriors ahead by ten (11-1).
In the top of the sixth, Rochester had runners on first and second with one when the game went into a delay due to the lights. The game ended in the top of the sixth due to the lights. The Warriors won 11-1 to earn the season sweep of Rochester.
McGhee earned the win on the mound pitching 5.1 inning with four strikeouts.
De Los Santos was 2-for-4 in the box with four RBIs and two runs while
Daftari was 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

th when they host Grace for a doubleheader at Parkview Field set to start at 4 p.m.
