SYLVANIA, Ohio – Baseball traveled to Lourdes yesterday for a conference doubleheader where Tech came up short in the first game but rebounded and won the second game.
In the first game both teams had impressive defense holding each other scoreless until the eighth inning. In the top of the eighth, 
Micah O'Donnell hit a triple to right center for the Warriors before 
Reese Olden hit a sacrifice fly to left field that scored 
O'Donnell from third to put the Warriors ahead 1-0.
In the bottom of the ninth, Lourdes responded with a sacrifice fly to centerfield that scored a runner from third and tied the game to send it to the tenth inning. In the top of the tenth the Warriors were unable to cross home and the Gray Wolves continued their momentum from the bottom of the ninth and scored to win the game 2-1 in extra innings.
Martin Eckard took the loss on the mound pitching the final two innings of the game with four strikeouts. 
Yeshua Saint started for the Warriors with 7.0 innings pitched with five strikeouts and four hits. 
O'Donnell went 1-for-1 in the box with the one run for Tech while 
Spenser McGhee went 2-for-4.
In the second game the Warriors came out swinging with 
Manuel Ascanio starting the top of the first with a double to left field. 
Jacob Daftari then singled to centerfield to score 
Parker Bates, who pinch ran for 
Ascanio, and then 
Daftari advanced to second on the throw home. The Warriors ended the top of the first inning with a 1-0 lead.
Tech continued the scoring in the top of the second when 
Mike Snyder got on base with a single to third before 
Jacob Alvidrez hit a single to right field to put runners on first and second with one out. 
Olden then stepped into the box and hit a hard ball through the left side for a single that scored 
Snyder from second. 
Ascanio was then back up to bat and hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored 
Alvidrez from third for Tech to lead 3-0. The Gray Wolves responded in the bottom of the second scoring two to get back within one (3-2) after two innings.
The Warriors scored another in the top of the third when 
McGhee hit a double down the left field line with a runner on third that scored and put the Warriors back ahead by two (4-2). Lourdes quickly closed the gap in the bottom of the third scoring two to tie the game 4-4.
Neither team was able to score again until the top of the sixth. The Warriors started the inning with a double to right center from 
Snyder followed by a fielding error that put runners on first and third with no outs. 
Olden hit a single through the right side that scored 
Snyder before 
Ascanio hit a sacrifice fly to right field that scored 
Alvidrez and gave the Warriors a 6-4 lead. Tech extended their lead to three (7-4) in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the eighth Lourdes scored one run to close the gap and leave the Warriors with only a two-run cushion (7-5).
In the top of the ninth the Warriors bats came alive with 
Trevor Patterson starting the inning with a double to centerfield before 
De Los Santos earned a walk to put runners on first and second with no outs. 
McGhee bunted the ball to third base to load the bases with no outs. A force out at home gave the Gray Wolves one out, but the bases were still loaded. 
Alvidrez hit a single to right field that scored two runs and put the Warriors ahead 9-5. The Gray Wolves attempted a comeback in the bottom of the ninth scoring two runs before Tech put the game away with the third out to win the second game of the doubleheader 9-7.
McGhee earned the win on the mound pitching five innings with six strikeouts while 
Kyler Seeman pitched three innings with five strikeouts and 
Kris Massey earned the save pitching the last inning with one strikeout. 
Ascanio, McGhee and 
Olden all were 2-for-4 at the plate while 
Alvidrez went 3-for-5 with two runs and two RBIs.
The Warriors are back in action today when they host Cleary for a conference doubleheader at Warrior Field with the first pitch at 3 p.m.
