FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 2-ranked Indiana Tech men's lacrosse team completed the sweep of the Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference (WHAC) titles over the weekend as they won the WHAC Tournament for the second time in program history with wins over Lourdes University (17-10) and No. 6-ranked Concordia University (13-4).
How It Happened | Lourdes
- The Warriors got off to a great start with five goals in the first quarter, but Lourdes found some momentum in the last four minutes of the quarter with a 3-0 run to cut the deficit to 5-3.
- The two teams combined for nine goals in the second, but the Gray Wolves couldn't get any closer than two goals while Tech led 10-7 at the break following a goal from Samuel Bodley with eight seconds left in the half.
- Tech ran away with the game in the fourth quarter as they outscored Lourdes 6-1, including three goals in the last three minutes of the game to advance to the championship match with a 17-10 win.
How It Happened | Concordia
- Tech got off to another great start in Saturday's championship with a 5-0 run in the first quarter to take control from the opening faceoff. The Warriors tacked on four more goals in the second to take a 9-0 lead into the locker room while holding Concordia to just 11 total shots.
- The Cardinals found some life in the third quarter by outscoring the hosts 3-1, but the Warriors shut the visitors down in the fourth to win the title 13-4 and earn the league's automatic bid to the NAIA National Invitational.
Tech (16-1) returns to action on May 6 as they open up play in the NAIA National Invitational against Concordia in Savannah, Georgia. Opening faceoff is set for 7 p.m. from Memorial Stadium.
