FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 10-ranked Indiana Tech men's soccer team saw its season come to an end Saturday afternoon with a 2-0 loss to No. 21-ranked University of the Cumberlands in the championship match of the NAIA National Championship Opening Round at Warrior Athletic Field.
How It Happened
- The Warriors had a pair of chances to go ahead early in the match, but couldn't put one into the back of the net while the Patriots got on the scoreboard in the 15th minute.
- The match was a tight and physical contest throughout with 35 combined fouls and seven cards. Tech had five chances to score in the second half, but got stymied by UC keeper Akililu Zambataro every time.
- The Patriots made it a 2-0 game in the 82nd minute to put the game out of reach.
The Warriors finish the season with an 18-2-1 record, matching the 1981 and 1983 squads for the most wins in a single season.
