ADRIAN, Mich. – Baseball sweeps Siena Heights on the road Monday to advance to 13-5 in conference play.
Siena Heights started strong scoring the first run of the game in their first at bat at the bottom of the first. The Warriors responded in their next at bat beginning with
Christian De Los Santos hitting a single to left field. He then advanced to second on a wild pitch to put himself into scoring position with one out. After the second out,
Jake Ritson stepped up to the plate and hit a single through the left side that scored
De Los Santos from second and tied the game 1-1.
In the top of the third, the Warriors struck again when
Reese Olden was hit by a pitch as the first batter of the inning.
Jacob Alvidrez then had a sacrifice bunt to move
Olden to second before the Saints recorded the second out of the inning. With two outs,
Yeshua Saint singled up the middle of the field to score
Olden and give Tech their first lead of the day 2-1.
Both teams amped up the defense with no more runs being scored until the ninth inning. In the top of the inning,
Olden singled through the right side and then advanced to second and third on two passed balls. A sacrifice fly from
Alvidrez scored
Olden for the Warriors to win the first game 3-1.
Charles Dunavan earned the win on the mound pitching all nine innings with 13 strikeouts and no walks.
Ritson was 3-for-3 at the plate with one RBI to lead Tech in the batter's box.
In game two, the Saints jumped out to an early lead again, scoring the first run in the bottom of the first. The Warriors rebounded in the top of the second forcing an error on the field to get
Mike Snyder on first with one out.
Manuel Ascanio then singled to the shortstop to put runners on first and second. After the Saints tallied the second out of the inning,
Olden was hit by a pitch to load the bases with two outs.
Alvidrez worked for the walk that scored
Snyder before
Ritson singled to right center that scored both
Ascanio and
Olden to put the Warriors ahead 3-1. Tech scored another run before the end of the inning to lead 4-1.
The Warriors were able to get more offense in the top of the fifth when
Spenser McGhee doubled to right center as the first batter of the inning.
Alex Mitchell came in to pinch run before
Snyder singled to left field to put runners on first and third with one out.
Snyder stole second before the Saints got
Mitchell out at home plate and
Ascanio reached first on a fielder's choice. Tech had runners on first and second with wo outs when
Jacob Daftari singled to left field to score
Snyder. Tech scored a second time in the inning on a wild pitch that gave the Warriors a 6-1 lead.
In the top of the sixth, Tech scored four more runs to solidify their 10-1 victory and the season sweep of the Saints.
Ryan Troxel got the win for the Warriors pitching six innings with two strikeouts while
Jared Gallagher finished out the last three innings of the game with four strikeouts.
Snyder went 2-for-4 at the plate with one RBI and three runs.
The Warriors are back in action Wednesday, April 28
th when they head to Lawrence Tech for another conference doubleheader set to start at 2 p.m.
