FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Baseball takes down Fort Wayne rival Saint Francis last night 12-7.
The Warriors opened the game with a run in the top of the first inning.
Jacob Alvidrez was hit by a pitch to get on base before he was moved to second by a sacrifice bunt from
Jake Ritson. The Cougars notched their second out of the inning and
Alvidrez advanced to third.
Spenser McGhee worked for a walk before
Christian De Los Santos singled to centerfield to score
Alvidrez and give the Warriors the 1-0 lead.
Tech scored again in the top of third
Alvidrez got the ball rolling once again with a single to centerfield followed by another sacrifice bunt from
Ritson to move
Alvidrez to third. The Cougars earned their first out before
McGhee stepped up to the plate and hit a two-run homer to deep right centerfield. The Warriors now led 3-0.
Saint Francis for on the board in the bottom of the fourth with one run before Tech answered in the top of the fifth with one run themselves. The Warriors went on to the top of the sixth where
Manuel Ascanio got on base with a walk.
Jacob Daftari then doubled to deep right center to put runners on first and second with one out. After
Reese Olden reached first and the Cougars notched the second out, before
Alvidrez was hit by a pitch to load the bases.

Olden scored as well. The Warriors tallied three runs in the top of the sixth to extend their lead to 7-1.
The Cougars answered in the bottom of the sixth scoring four runs to get within two of Tech. Tech scored one in the top of the seventh and then two apiece in the top of eight and nine. The Cougars rallied in the bottom of eight for two more runs but ran out of steam and the Warriors won the cross-town match up 12-7.
Ben Lambert won the game for the Warriors pitching five innings with seven strikeouts.
McGhee led Tech at the plate going 1-for-1 with one run and four RBIs.
The Warriors are back in action Thursday, April 29
th when they host Wright State at 6 p.m. for a single game.
