MARION, Ind. – Baseball falls just short to #1 Oklahoma Wesleyan 7-3 in their second game of the NAIA Opening Round.
Oklahoma Wesleyan scored the first two runs of the game in the bottom of the third and tallied three more in the bottom of the fourth to lead 5-0 over the Warriors.
In the top of the fifth
Reese Olden reached first with a walk before
Jake Ritson singled to right field to put runners on first and second with one out. The Eagles earned the second out of the inning with
Spenser McGhee coming to the plate.
McGhee hit a deep ball over the right field fence to put Tech on the board with a three-run homer. The Warriors were within two (5-3) after the top of the fifth inning.
The Eagles answered in the bottom of the fifth with one run before hitting a solo homer in the bottom of the seventh to seal their 7-3 win to take down the Warriors.
Ritson went 2-for-3 at the plate with one run while
McGhee was 1-for-5 at the plate with one run and three RBIs.
Charles Dunavan took the loss at the mound with 4.1 innings pitched with eight strikeouts.
Ryan Troxel ended the game pitching 3.2 inning with two strikeouts.
The Warriors are now set to play #3 Columbia College at 8:30 p.m. tonight.
