MARION, Ind. – The Indiana Tech men's tennis team started off the IWU Fall Classic Thursday night with a 4-1 win over Holy Cross College at the Sutter Tennis Center.
Tech cruised to the doubles point with victories from
Alvaro Gomez and Agustin Cortes at second flight and
Tyler Sinclair and Anastasis Lavdas at third flight, 6-4 and 6-2, respectively.
Holy Cross struck first in singles play with a win at first position, but the Warriors responded with wins by
Juan Avellaneda, Cortes and Michel Zobel at number two, three and six, respectively. Avellaneda won handily at 6-1, 7-5 while Cortes won 7-6 (4), 6-2, and Zobel picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win.
Tech (2-0) returns to action Saturday as they travel back to Marion to take on Olivet Nazarene University at 12 p.m. at the Sutter Tennis Center on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University before heading back north to take on Huntington University at 5 p.m. on Klopfenstein Tennis Courts to wrap up the IWU Fall Classic.
