FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team ran its winning streak to four matches Wednesday evening as they defeated Concordia University in three sets (25-12-25, 21, 25-18) inside the Schaefer Center.
Taylor Paul led the way offensively with 12 kills and a .300 hitting percentage while
Noelle VanOort had 10 kills and 11 digs for her fourth double-double of the season.
Andrea Schriver had 34 assists and 11 digs while
Madelyn Omo recorded four blocks.
Jacey Blust registered 17 digs.
The two teams were knotted up at 5-5 in the first until a 9-0 run from the Warriors propelled them to a 14-5 lead. Following a 3-1 spurt from the Cardinals, Tech got back into the driver's seat with a 6-0 run to extend the lead to 21-8 and take the 1-0 lead in the match.
The second set started off with back-and-forth action like the first, with the Warriors holding a slight 9-6 lead. Concordia battled back to tie it up at 11-11, but a 7-0 spurt from the hosts put them up 18-11. The Cardinals did not roll over though, fighting back to make it a 22-19 game and staving off two set points before a Paul kill put the Orange and Black up 2-0 in the match.
The two sides stayed closed to one another throughout the third with six ties through the first 26 serves, but a 9-1 run from the Warriors put them ahead 21-14 and the match out of reach as they won their 10
th straight match in the series.
Tech (10-8, 6-1 WHAC) returns to action Friday as they travel to the University of Michigan-Dearborn. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the UM-Dearborn Fieldhouse.
