Box Score 1 FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The No. 3-ranked Indiana Tech women's hockey team swept the Grand Valley State Lakers by the same score, 6-0, this past weekend.
The first contest was on home ice at the SportONE/Parkview Icehouse on Friday night. After no scoring for either side in the first period, it was the leading point-getter in the ACHA that would put the Warriors on the board as
Izzy Pettem-Shand would score with some sauce, fooling the goaltender and finishing with a backhanded goal. The Warriors would take a 1-0 lead into the third period, and that's where the offense exploded.
Dakota Bowler,
Arina Jusczak,
Lauren Younker, and
Megan Yakiwchuk would power the Warrior offense, scoring five straight goals, pacing the Warriors to a 6-0 victory.
Izzy Varner would record the shutout, making 20 saves on the night.Â
The second contest was held at Grand Valley State on Sunday night. Unlike the first contest, the Warriors didn't waste any time taking control of the game, With
Izzy Pettem-Shand netting her twelfth goal of the season in the first period, and then
Brooklynn Moore,
Arina Jusczak, and
Kayleigh Coulombe all netting goals in the second period to take a 4-0 lead into the final period where
Megan Yakiwchuk and
Ashley Episcopo would finish off the Lakers, making the final score 6-0.
Izzy Varner would record her second shutout of the weekend.Â
The Warriors (14-4-1, 12-0-0 CCWHA) are back in action this weekend as they have a series with No. 13-ranked UM-Dearborn (6-3-2, 4-3-2 CCWHA), the home contest will be on Friday night at the Sportone/Parkview Icehouse, with puck-drop being at 7:30 PM.
