FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech men's basketball team earned a very impressive win over a quality opponent on Wednesday night, protecting home court and defeating Cornerstone by a final score of 71-65.
Ted Albert got fantastic contributions from
Grant Smith, as he led the team with 22 points, including five three-pointers made, and five free throws made.
Josh Kline nearly had a double-double, pulling in 10 boards and scoring nine points.
Rog Stein had a near double-double as well, scoring 13 points and grabbing nine rebounds. The sophomore from Valparaiso,
Steve Helm, put in 13 points and grabbed three rebounds.Â
The key to the game for the Warriors was winning the rebounding battle. The Orange and Black out-rebounded the Golden Eagles 47-30, leading to 14 second-chance points. Indiana Tech also held Cornerstone to 36.7% shooting from the floor, and making their star player, Christian Rodriguez, try to beat them on his own, not allowing any of his teammates to get going offensively, as he was the only one to reach a double-digit scoring total.
The Warriors improve to 10-2 in WHAC play, and 16-6 overall, winning 13 of their last 15 contests. They'll look to stay hot this weekend as they head up to Dearborn, Michigan to take on the Wolverines (3-16, 1-10 WHAC). The game will take place at Henry Ford College and will tip-off at 3 PM.
