Women’s Hockey Cruise Past Panthers in Weekend Series

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The No. 3 ranked Indiana Tech women's hockey team took on the Davenport University Panthers in a two-game series starting Friday night in Grand Rapids, where the Warriors earned an 11-1 victory before returning to Fort Wayne on Saturday for a 15-0 final score in game two. Tech improves to 17-3 on the season.
 
In game one of the series, the Warriors were on the road finding the net 11 times in their 11-1 victory over the panthers. Scoring for Tech were Michelle Borland (3), Dakota Bowler (2), Izzy Pettem-Shand, Genessie Williams, Hailey Terpstra, Caylee Crowson, Allison Greene, and Arina Jusczak. Finding the scoresheet with an assist for the Warriors Terpstra (2), Jusczak, Williams (2), Borland (2), Mikayla Kalverda, Megan Yakiwchuk, Lauren Younker, Crowson (3), Pettem-Shand, and Greene. Mackenzie Addley and Julia Gross split time in the goal in game one making a combined 8 saves on 9 shots faced.
 
Game two was back in Fort Wayne on Saturday, where the Warriors slid past Davenport with a 15-0 final. Goals for Tech came from Michelle Borland (4), Megan Yakiwchuk (3), Genessie Williams (2), Allison Greene (2), Hailey Terpstra, Jaiden Rogers, Maddie Beek, and Dakota Bowler. The Warriors recorded 20 assists on their 15 goals, coming from Beek (3), Sterling Nesbitt, Pettem-Shand (3), Borland (2), Williams (2), Kalverda, Greene (3), Yakiwchuk, Hailey Anderson, Younker (2), and Terpstra. Julia Gross earned the shutout in the net, saving all 10 shots she faced.
 
The Warriors now take a break for the Holiday season but return to action on January 6, 2023, in Dearborn, Michigan, as they take on the Wolverines in a two-game series. Tech has won both meetings with UM-Dearborn, most recently with a 6-2 final.
