NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 10 ranked Indiana Tech women's wrestling team had five athletes finish in the top five of their weight class at the Nort Central Women's College Open.
Makayla Young placed 4
th in the 101-weight class. After dropping the quarterfinal match by an 8-2 decision, she received a bye to get to the 3
rd round of the consolation bracket. There she won round three by fall over Wisconsin-Stevens Point's Kelly Enriquez. Then she won her next match via tech fall 10-0 before falling in the 3
rd place match to finish 4
th.
Tehani Soares placed 5
th in the 109-weight class going 4-2 on the day, winning her matches with two technical falls, one fall, and one decision.
Trinity Coyne placed 5
th in the 136 division as she finished the event 4-2, winning her matches via two technical falls, one fall, and one injury default.
Glenda Veiga placed 4
th in the 136 division, going 4-2 on the day, winning her first match with a 10-0 tech fall and followed that up with two wins by fall and one win by injury default before losing a 2-0 decision in the 3
rd place match. Catherine McNulty placed 4
th in the 170 bracket, finishing the day 2-2. She won her first matchup over Khaila Hughes of Lindenwood University and got her second victory by fall to get into the 3
rd place match.
Riley Dempewolf finished 5
th in the 191 division finishing 4-2 for the event. She won her matches via three decisions and one technical fall.
The women travel to Hiram, Ohio, on Saturday, December 17
th, for their next event hosted by Hiram College.
