MIAMI, Fla. - The Indiana Tech softball team dropped three of its final four games of their Florida trip, splitting with St. Thomas, 2-6 and 6-5, and falling to Florida National 1-5 and 7-10.
Games 1 and 2 (St. Thomas)
Kenedi Sullivan singled home
Meagan Barton to get the Warriors on the board first, but the Bobcats would strike with three runs of their own in the second, third, and fourth innings. Marie Trouba would score on an error in the fifth, but that'd be all the offense could manage.
Olyvia Notter had three strikeouts in the loss.
In game two, the offense again started off with the lead, with
Ashley Alvey scoring on an error. Tech would score four runs in the sixth inning, with
Carly Basham and
Amanda Parker scoring on an error,
Emma Kelley scoring on a fielder's choice, and
Emma Chase scoring on a sac fly. The Bobcats would tie things up in the bottom half of the inning, but
Bella Brock would score on an error, putting the Orange and Black ahead for good, with the final score being 6-5.
Games 3 and 4 (Florida National)
The Warrior offense couldn't get it going in the first contest, Hornung would steal home in the fifth for Tech's only run, losing 1-5.
Things were different in the second contest, with the Warriors scoring six runs in the first five innings. Iacovetti singled home Hornung in the first, Berlin doubling her home later on, and Basham scored on an error. Hornung doubled home Trouba and Alvey tripled home Barton in the fourth and fifth innings.
Sydney Williams singled home Berlin, but seven runs wasn't enough, as Florida National exploded for nine runs in the fifth inning. Tech would drop the contest, 7-10.
Indiana Tech (5-14) will be back at Warrior Park tomorrow, as they'll take on the Judson Eagles (2-8-1) at 2 PM.
