FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech softball team defeated WHAC foe, Cleary, by scores of 10-0 and 10-4 this past weekend at Warrior Park.
Game 1 | Indiana Tech 10, Cleary 0
The Warrior offense left no doubt in the first contest, exploding for five runs in just the first inning.
Maire Trouba scored when
Emma Kelley hit a ball into center field which led to a Cougar error.
Meagan Barton brought home
Olyvia Notter on a sacrifice fly.
Meghan Berlin doubled off the fence in left center, bringing home Kelley, she would then score when
Alyssa Fox singled to the short stop, who then made an error.
Alivia Doyle then singled home Fox. Tech wouldn't score in the second inning, but the offense came back to life in the third. Doyle would again bring home a teammate, this time it was Berlin.
Kendall Hornung would later triple to left field, bringing Doyle home. In the fourth inning, it was
Reilly Johnson singling home Barton, and then Doyle would once again bring home Berlin.
Hannah Middlebrooks earned her fifth win of the season, striking out six cougars and surrendering just three hits in the complete game shut-out.
Game 2 | Indiana Tech 10, Cleary 4
Meghan Berlin would put Tech on the board first after she went yard in the second inning. Kenedi Sullivan brought home
Maire Trouba home on a sacrifice fly in the third inning to give the Orange and Black a 2-0 lead. After Cleary knocked a two-run homer, the Warriors responded with six runs in the fourth and fifth innings.
Bella Brock singled down the left field line to bring home Barton, and then later came home on a fielder's choice as Trouba would ground out to second.
Emma Kelley homered over the left field fence, and later on Berlin would score on a Cougar error. Barton would then bring home Sullivan after reaching first on another Cougar error.
Olyvia Notter picked up her third victory on the season, pitching five innings and striking out one batter.
Jaden Romero would relieve her, finishing Cleary off with two innings pitched, striking out one batter.Â
The Warriors improve to 12-17 on the season and 7-3 in WHAC play. They'll next play host to the UM-Dearborn Wolverines (17-7, 8-2 WHAC). The doubleheader contest will take place on Wednesday at Warrior Park, with first pitch being scheduled for 3:30 PM.Â
