FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech baseball team defeated Manchester University 14-4 in seven innings Wednesday evening at Warrior Park.
Brice Stultz was 3-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and a run while
Mike Snyder was 2-4 with a grand slam and scored three times.
Ashtin Moxey went 1-4 with four RBIs.
Weston Markle went three innings on the mound to pick up the win, allowing just three runs, two earned, on four hits and two walks while striking out two.
Tyler Stacy went three innings in relief with four strikeouts.
The Spartans struck first with a two-out infield single followed by a triple down the right field line by Paul Barrow in the top of the first. Tech came back quickly though with back-to-back walks to lead things off followed by an infield single by
Jacob Daftari before Snyder sent one over the left field wall to make it a 4-1 game. Moxey made it a 5-1 game with a sacrifice fly three batters later.
Manchester got runs in the third and fourth to cut the deficit to 5-3, but a three-run fifth pushed the Tech advantage to 8-3. The Warriors took advantage of a one-out error with Moxey driving in his second run of the game with an RBI groundout while Stultz doubled to right to drive in a pair of runs.
The Warriors tacked on five more runs in the seventh, with the final three coming with two outs in the frame to give the hosts the 10-run lead.
Jayden Reed got things started with a one-out double that scored Stultz while Daftari drove in
Dalton Swinehart with a sacrifice fly to make it 11-4. Following back-to-back walks to load the bases and make it a 12-4 game, Moxey singled in the final two runs to seal the win.
Tech (23-18) returns to action Saturday as they host Siena Heights University in a conference doubleheader on Senior Day. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. from Warrior Field.
