FORT WAYNE, Ind. - The Indiana Tech softball team continues to be hot during conference play. This past weekend the Warriors got back over .500 (20-19) and now sit at second in the WHAC standings with a 13-5 record after sweeping both Cornerstone and #14 Aquinas.
Game 1 | Indiana Tech 6, Cornerstone 5
The Golden Eagles struck first in game one, taking a 2-0 lead into the bottom of the third.
Alivia Doyle would cross the plate first for Tech as
Emma Kelley would bring her home on a ground out,.
Kendall Hornung would score later on a passed ball, and in the fourth inning it was

Meghan Berlin to give the Warriors a 3-2 lead. Cornerstone would respond by tying the game in the sixth
Maire Trouba would hit a two-RBI single to put Tech ahead 5-3. The Golden Eagles again tied it up in the seventh, giving Tech a chance to walk it off at home.
Alyssa Fox did so, as she singled with the bases loaded, bringing home Kenedi Sullivan, and the Warriors would take game one, 6-5.
Hannah Middlebrooks saw six innings of action, striking out two Eagles.
Olyvia Notter threw one inning, giving up zero runs, and earned her fourth win of the year.
Game 2 | Indiana Tech 9, Cornerstone 0
The Warriors didn't mess around in game two, scoring all of the games runs in the third and fourth innings. In the third, Sullivan would single home Trouba for the first run of the contest. It was the fourth inning, however, that Tech would explode for eight runs. Fox would start off the fun with a two-RBI double, bringing home
Micaela Iacovetti and Berlin. Fox was then brought home on a bunt by
Bella Brock, who was then brought home on a sacrifice fly by Barton. Sullivan again would bring home Trouba as she doubled to left field. Ema Kelley would score as Notter would single her home. Sullivan would score after Iacovetti would ground out to second, and
Alyssa Fox would earn another RBI in the same inning as she singled home
Amanda Parker.
Jaden Romero picked up her fourth win of the season, pitching a complete game, striking out four Golden Eagles.Â
Game 3 | Indiana Tech 8, #14 Aquinas 7
Sullivan again would get things underway by bringing home Trouba in the first inning. The Saints would wait until the fourth to put two runs on the board before Tech would once again do some damage in the same inning. Brock singled up the middle to bring home Berlin, and Doyle would bring home Fox as she singled to right field. Iacovetti would triple to right center field, bringing home Kelley and Barton to give Tech a 6-2 lead. As a top-ranked team like Aquinas should, they responded with a punch of their own, tying the game in innings six and seven, again, giving the Warriors a chance to walk it off on senior day. One of those seniors,
Meghan Berlin, did just that. She singled through the right side, sending home base running specialist
Kali Pangallo and
Amanda Parker, giving the Warriors the upset, 8-7, in game one.
Hannah Middlebrooks picked up her eighth win of the season, pitching a complete game, striking out three Saint batters.Â
Game 4 | Indiana Tech 5, #14 Aquinas 1
The Saints got off to a running start, getting on the board first in the second inning 1-0. But it was the weekend of the Warriors. In the third inning, it was Trouba hitting a sacrifice fly to bring home Fox, and then Kelley singling through the left side, sending Doyle and Brock home to take a 3-1 lead.
Micaela Iacovetti decided she'd add to that total, singling through the right side, bringing home
Ashley Alvey and Parker to make it 5-1 in favor of Tech.
Jaden Romero (5-5) was great in her senior day outing, pitching a complete game, striking out four batters and giving up just one earned run, completing the Warriors upset sweep of the Saints.Â
The Warriors improve to 20-19 overall, 13-5 in conference play. They'll next travel to Lima, Ohio to take on the UNOH Racers (17-15, 12-6 WHAC).
