Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Late Motta Goal Secures 2-1 Win

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The men's soccer team took the pitch Saturday while hosting the Blue Devils of Lawrence Tech University, picking up a 2-1 win in their first conference game. The first half of the match ended in a 0-0 stalemate, with neither team breaking through to score a goal. Tech fired ten first-half shots while Lawrence Tech took three.

The second half was livelier in the box than the first. Tech broke the stalemate with a goal in the 57th minute of the match. A perfectly timed ball through the back line from Luke Jones into the box found the feet of Warren Moss, who calmly tucked it inside the right post for the match's opening goal.

Lawrence Tech kept the pressure high as the half continued and broke through in the 80th minute with a goal coming from Guillermo Garcia. The teams were only level for another eight minutes. In the 88th minute, a ball was played through the backline, bringing the keeper out. A ricochet fell right to Lucca Motta, who chipped it over everyone in the box and found the back of the net to put the Warriors back on top 2-1. The Warriors ended the game with 23 total shots, while LTU recorded 8. Jaume Salvado recorded five saves in the win.

The Warriors travel to Concordia University (Mich.) in their next game, Wednesday, September 28, to take on the Cardinals. The Warriors are 23-0 in the series between the two competitors, with the latest game being played on October 20, 2021. The result of that game was 6-0 in favor of the Warriors.
