GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Indiana Tech men's basketball team earned its third-straight win over Cornerstone University, tonight's a spirited 77-72 affair at CU's Mol Arena, where Tech had won only twice previously. A balanced scoring attack saw all five Warrior starters enter double digits, with
Josh Kline's 14 leading the way. A 10-for-18 effort from behind the arc was ultimately the difference, as a
Max Perez triple at 4:24 capped an 18-7 Tech run that turned the game from a one-point deficit to a 10-point margin at 72-62.
CU wouldn't fold, however, as empty trips at the line by Tech and two desperation threes allowed the hosts back within two in the final minute. The Golden Eagles then missed crucial free throws of their own, before Warrior senior
Cory McKinney iced the game at the line with three free tosses in the final 20 seconds to preserve victory.Â
Rog Stein had 13 points with nine boards, McKinney and Perez each provided 11, while
Blake Davison netted 10 to help offset the absence of
Grant Smith, who missed the contest through injury.
The Warriors (18-3, 11-2 WHAC) return home to play UNOH on Saturday in the Schaefer Center at 3 PM. The first-place Orange & Black continue to hold a 1.5 game lead in the league table, with seven games to play.
