FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team was host to the University of Northwestern Ohio on Wednesday evening for a Wolverine-Hoosier Athletic Conference, bouncing back from their first conference loss by taking a 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, 25-15) win. The Warriors move to 20-3 on the season and 10-1 in conference play.
In set one, there was little that separated the two teams. Tech seemed to be pulling away as they stretched their lead to its largest margin at the 18-14 mark, but UNOH wasn't going away as they brought it back even 18-18. Tech was persistent in their effort and took the first set 25-22. Set two was all Warriors from the 3-3 point on as they didn't trail the remainder of the set and won 25-20. Tech jumped to an early 4-1 lead in the third set and didn't slow down as they extended their lead to 11-6, forcing a timeout from the Racers. The timeout only delayed the inevitable as Tech stormed to a 25-15 win to complete the sweep.
The Warrior offense was led by
Noelle VanOort with 10 kills and 3 service aces.
Andrea Schriver posted a game-high 36 assists. Defensively, the Warriors were led by
Jacqueline Allaway at the net with 5 blocks, and
Jacey Blust held things down in the back row with 12 digs.
Friday starts a three-game road stretch for the Warriors as they travel to Livonia, Michigan, to take on Madonna University. Tech claimed the first meeting between the two schools this season in a 3-0 fashion. The first serve of their second meeting is set for 7:00 p.m.
