DEARBORN HEIGHTS, Mich. – The Indiana Tech women's soccer team played out a 1-1 draw with the University of Michigan-Dearborn on Saturday afternoon in a physical game with a lot of drama.
The Warriors entered the game on the heals of a 1-0 victory over Cleary University last Wednesday to move them into ninth place in the WHAC standings. On Saturday, Tech traveled to Dearborn Heights, Michigan to take on the Wolverines of UM-Dearborn. Leading goal scorer,
Addie Nellis, would put the Warriors ahead 1-0 in the 30
th minute of the game after slotting home a penalty kick. Five minutes later, drama would ensure with three players being carded, two earning straight red cards and another earning a yellow. As both teams went down to ten aside just before the halftime break, both sets of coaches would have to adjust their tactics and plans during their team talks in the locker room. The Wolverines would capitalize on this, scoring in under two minutes to start the second half to draw level with the Warriors. However, both teams would fail to register another shot on target in the game, as both sides would finish with four shots on goal.
Michaela Bitle made three saves in goal for Tech as the game would finish in a tie.
Indiana Tech moves to 2-5-2 in WHAC play and 4-9-2 overall, currently sitting a tie for eighth place in the WHAC standings with two games to go. Tech will host Madonna University on Wednesday, October 25
th at 3pm and then Aquinas College on Saturday, October 28
th in the regular season finale at 1pm.
