FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Indiana Tech women's volleyball team hosted Concordia University Wednesday evening in the Schaefer Center as their regular season winds down with only one game remaining. Tech proved too much for the Cardinals as they dominated Concordia, winning 3-0 (25-13, 25-17,25-22). The Warriors improved to 28-3 on the season and 18-1 in conference play.
Out of the gate in set one, there wasn't much separation between the two teams, but a kill by
Noelle VanOort with the set tied at 8 sparked a fire in the Warriors, starting a 12-1 run that saw them extend the lead to a margin the Cardinals couldn't overcome, claiming the set 25-13. The Warrior's defensive efforts carried over from the first set into the second, as their refusal to give up easy points allowed their offense more opportunities to extend their lead, resulting in Tech winning the set 25-17. VanOort opened the third set with a kill, but Concordia refused to go down easily as they looked to extend the match with a third-set victory. Trailing 18-23, the Cardinals went on a 5-0 run to force
Matt Fishman to take a timeout. The timely utilization of his first timeout resulted in a service error, giving the Warriors a two-point advantage, allowing
Taylor Sorg to end the match with a kill, winning the final set 25-11.
Tech finishes its regular season by hosting Siena Heights on Friday evening for their senior day. The Saints are responsible for the lone blemish on the Warriors conference record as Tech fell 1-3 in their first matchup of the season. The match's first serve is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
