FINDLAY, Ohio – The No. 18-ranked Indiana Tech men's wrestling team competed in the Findlay Open over the weekend and had four wrestlers place in the top eight of their respective weight classes in the non-team scoring tournament.
Allen Calderon placed eighth in the 125-weight class with a 3-2 mark as he started off his day with a bye before defeating Grand Valley's Orion Wilson 4-0. In the Quarterfinal, Grand Valley's Aaron Lucio dealt Calderon his first loss of the day 7-2, but Calderon bounced back with a 12-6 win over Luke Acuna of Ashland.
Elijah Anthony finished fifth at 133 lbs. With a 5-1 mark and his lone setback came in the quarterfinals to West Liberty's Vincent Scollo, 4-0. He won the rest of his matches via tech fall, winning 16-1 over Ryan Wehner of Lake Erie in the 5
th-place match.
Elijah Chacon finished eighth at 157 lbs. with a 3-2 record, starting off the day 2-0 with two pins, but suffered a 9-0 setback in the quarterfinal. Chacon bounced back with another pin over Ashland's Tyler Barry before ending his day with a 15-8 defeat.
Griffin Bekish took eighth at 174 lbs. with a 3-2 mark, starting the day 2-0 with 17-2 and 12-3 wins, before falling to Brody Hemauer of Wisconsin-Parkside. Bekish bounced back with a 7-6 win but fell in his fifth match to Mercyhurst's Chase Stein.
Tech returns to action on December 2 as they host the Indiana Little State Invitational, in the Doug Edgar Indoor Track Facility.
